About the Program
What is this program about?
American Express has partnered with Newegg to allow Card Members and Program Administrators enrolled in the Membership Rewards® and Corporate Membership Rewards® program, respectively, to use points for purchases at Newegg.com. Card Members and Program Administrators can choose to use points for all or part of their purchase using an eligible Card. There is no registration or separate enrollment required to participate in this program.
Eligibility
Who is eligible to participate?
To participate, you must have a valid, Membership Rewards enrolled American Express® Consumer Card, Business Card from American Express OPEN, or American Express® Corporate Card and be authorized to use points. Click here to view eligible Cards.
How do I know if I’m authorized to use points? If I’m not authorized, how do I become authorized?
If the Card is eligible for and enrolled in the Membership Rewards program, all Basic Card Members (primary Card holders) are authorized to earn and use Membership Rewards points for purchases. Additional Card Members can earn Membership Rewards points but will not be able to use them unless the Basic Card Member enables them to do so. If you are an Additional Card Member and the Basic Card Member enables you to redeem points, you can use points on Newegg.com. To find out if you are authorized to redeem points, please check with your Basic Card Member.
If you are enrolled in the Corporate Membership Rewards® program and have certain permissions as a Program Administrator, you are eligible to redeem points on behalf of your company. If you have any questions about this, please call Customer Care at 1-888-800-8564.
If your Card was recently enabled to redeem points, it may take a few days before you are able to use points at Newegg.com.
I am the Basic Card Member (primary Card holder) and would like to change the authorization status of my Additional Card Member(s) to use Membership Rewards points. How do I do that?
Please visit the Card Authorization section on www.membershiprewards.com to edit your settings or please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276.

Using Points for Purchases
How do I use points for my purchase on Newegg.com?
Guest Checkout
If you checkout as a Guest, after you enter your eligible Card information and click the “Check Points Balance” button, American Express will share your points balance with Newegg so that you can see your available points balance and the associated dollar value to use for your purchase. Enter the dollar amount you would like applied and click “Apply to Order.” After you have reviewed the amount of points you want to use, click “Continue to Order Review Page.” Upon your final review, click the “Place Order” button to complete your purchase, noting that you may edit your payment decision before you click “Place Order.”
New or Existing Newegg.com Account Checkout
If you sign up for a Newegg.com account or have an existing Newegg.com account, add an eligible Card or select a saved eligible Card and click the “Check Points Balance” button. American Express will share your points balance with Newegg so that you can see your available points balance and the associated dollar value to use for your purchase. Enter the dollar amount you would like applied and click “Apply to Order.” After you have reviewed the amount of points you want to use, click “Continue to Order Review Page.” Upon your final review, click the “Place Order” button to complete your purchase, noting that you may edit your payment decision before you click “Place Order.” Once you have a saved, eligible Card in your account, and you’ve clicked the “Check Points Balance” button, American Express will automatically share your points balance with Newegg in order to display your points balance during your future visits.
Why was I not given the option to use points on Newegg.com?
You will only be given the option to use Membership Rewards points if:
- You are using an eligible American Express Card with an account in good standing
- Your account is not in default when you make your purchase
- You are the Basic Card Member (primary Card holder) or authorized by the Basic Card Member to redeem points
- You have at least two points in your Membership Rewards program account
- Your order does not include any Marketplace items (products that are not sold and shipped by Newegg), or any pre-ordered or back-ordered items
Can I choose to use points for all or just part of my purchase?
Yes. During the checkout process, you will see the available points balance and its associated dollar value to use toward your purchase. You can choose to use points for your entire purchase, providing you have enough, or for only part of your order – it’s up to you.
What if I cancel or return my Newegg.com purchase after using points?
If you cancel or return a purchase and had used points toward that purchase, Newegg will refund the corresponding dollar amount of the purchase to the American Express Card you used. Please allow 2 to 4 business days for the refund to post to your billing statement.
If you would like to have the Membership Rewards points returned to your account instead, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276. If you would like to have your Corporate Membership Rewards points returned to your account instead, please contact Corporate Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-888-800-8564.
The points balance displayed at checkout is not correct.
The Membership Rewards points balance shown on Newegg.com reflects the most up-to-date points balance information. If you have made recent purchases using points, please allow 2 to 4 business days for changes to be reflected in the points balance.
You can review points activity by logging into your Membership Rewards program summary page at membershiprewards.com and viewing the “Activity Detail” tab. If you are enrolled in the Corporate Membership Rewards program, please log into @Work® at atwork.americanexpress.com to see your program summary.
When will the points I used for my purchase be reflected on my Membership Rewards program statement?
Your transaction should appear on your Membership Rewards program statement within 2 to 4 business days after your purchase. If it has been more than 4 business days since your transaction has occurred, and the transaction is not showing in your Membership Rewards program statement, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276. If your transaction is not showing up on your Corporate Membership Rewards program statement, please contact Customer Care at 1-888-800-8564.
If there is a processing error with your choice to use points, your eligible Card will be charged, and a corresponding credit will not be issued to the eligible Card account for your transaction. In this event, if you would like to use points for your transaction, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276 or please contact Corporate Membership Rewards Customer Care at 1-888-800-8564 for assistance.
Why is a charge for the full dollar amount showing on my online Card statement when I used points for my purchase?
The points you used will be reflected on your billing statement and Membership Rewards program statement. If you used points for all or part of your purchase, your billing statement will show a charge for the total amount of your purchase and an offsetting credit for the dollar amount used in points, and your Membership Rewards program statement will show the deduction of points.
Please allow up to 2 to 4 business days for changes to be reflected in both places. If a credit is processed after your Card billing statement’s closing date, it will appear in your next statement. If Newegg does not immediately charge your Card for your purchase, the offsetting credit for the dollar amount used in points may appear on an earlier billing statement than the billing statement containing the charge for your purchase.
I didn’t want to use points for my purchase. What should I do?
If this occurs, please contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276 for assistance or please call Corporate Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-888-800-8564.
Where can I find a list of points redemptions?
You can view Membership Rewards points redemption information by logging into your online rewards summary page at membershiprewards.com and clicking on the “Activity Detail” tab. If your company is enrolled in the Corporate Membership Rewards program, please visit @ Work at atwork.americanexpress.com to view your point redemption history.
I would like to opt out of the Membership Rewards Program on Newegg.com. How can I remove the option to use points for my purchase? If I change my mind and I want to use points in the future, can I do that?
If you decide that you no longer want to be presented with the option to use Membership Rewards points for your purchase, contact Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-800-297-3276 or contact Corporate Membership Rewards program Customer Care at 1-888-800-8564. You can also click the “▲” in the top right-hand corner of the Membership Rewards points display during checkout. This will stop American Express from sharing the Membership Rewards points balance with Newegg. If you decide to opt back into the Membership Rewards Program and allow American Express to share your points balance for the eligible Card(s) on file with your account with Newegg, simply click the “▼” button in the Membership Rewards display during checkout, and the available points balance will be shown once you have selected the “Check Points Balance” button.
